We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something very special.

This week, Tanzania’s Minister for Planning and Investment, Prof. Kitila Mkumbo, is leading a high-level delegation to Lagos for four days of strategic discussions with Aliko Dangote and the Dangote Group.

The mission reflects a clear shift from investment promotion to investment execution as Tanzania works to accelerate the delivery of its Vision 2050 agenda.

The visit follows Mr. Dangote’s recent trip to Dar es Salaam, where he met with President Samia Suluhu Hassan to discuss expanding the Group’s investments across key sectors of Tanzania’s economy.

Tanzania is positioning the private sector at the heart of its long-term growth strategy, with an ambition to build a $1 trillion economy, . The focus is now on converting dialogue into tangible new investments, industrial expansion, job creation, and stronger cross-border commercial partnerships.

Prof. Mkumbo said Tanzania is “moving beyond MOUs and handshakes”, signaling to the government’s determination to translate commitments into projects that deliver measurable economic impact.

He also said President Hassan is committed to maintaining a predictable, competitive, and investor-friendly business environment, providing investors with greater confidence in the country’s long-term economic direction.
