Blue Earth Capital Raises More Than $200 Million

The institution has committed USD 17.25 million to the Alterra Africa Accelerator Fund, a pan-African growth equity fund investing in high-quality African businesses across markets including Kenya, Mauritius, and South Africa.

BlueEarth Capital has raised more than $200 million in the second close of its impact secondaries strategy, attracting backing from major U.S. investors including Builders Vision, iAlumbra Capital and Sonen Capital.

Among its anchor investors is Proparco, the private-sector financing arm of France’s AFD Group, which has become an active investor across Africa. In Kenya, Proparco has backed the Alterra Africa Accelerator Fund, invested in the Kipeto Wind Project, and supported initiatives expanding access to finance across East Africa.

The institution has committed USD 17.25 million to the Alterra Africa Accelerator Fund, a pan-African growth equity fund investing in high-quality African businesses across markets including Kenya, Mauritius, and South Africa.

Proparco has also backed Kenyan renewable energy infrastructure, including an equity stake in the Kipeto wind project, one of the country’s largest wind power developments,

BlueEarth’s strategy targets sectors including climate, financial inclusion, healthcare, education and the circular economy, with a dedicated allocation for emerging markets. The move signals growing investor confidence in impact investing and could unlock more private capital for high-impact businesses across Africa.
